“QUE CANTE LA VIDA” WANTS TO BE CROWNED AS THE SONG OF THE BICENTENNIAL OF CHILE

  “Que cante la vida”, a classic of Alberto Plaza, has been chosen as one of the pre-selected songs in the Chilean musical history to be nominated as a candidate for the Chilean Bicentennial Gaviota in the next Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 2010.

The Chilean song selected in this event will represent Chile among eight countries at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival 2010, where it will be chosen as the Best Song of All Time, and will be awarded with the Silver Gaviota.

To select “Que Cante la Vida” and other classics, a commission of well-known experts from show business created a list of distinguished songs that have had an historical importance in the musical history of Chile, and that have transcended as a classic of the Chilean popular music.

These selected themes are interpreted by talented young artists looking for an opportunity in the musical scene. In order to succeed, they must be subjected to popular vote trough text messaging where the audience should choose among five songs that will have a final challenge on 28 November in a special program broadcasted on Channel 13 and at the Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar.

“Que Cante la Vida” will be performed by the voice of Aldo Bustos, an inmate who became known in the “Todos a Coro” show of TVN, where he surprised everyone with his talent. Bustos has been dubbed “The Voice” of the prison of Talagante, and he declared to be very happy to represent the song created by Alberto Plaza. “It’s a hopeful song, a hymn to life that can help me to reintegrate into society,” said the inmate who has excellent behavior, and the full support of Gendarmerie of Chile for this competition.

Starting in October, Channel 13 will begin airing clips of the songs selected for the public in order to vote for their favorite one.

To participate in the selection of the Chilean song, the audience must send their option to the number 5151 indicating the code of their favorite song. “Que Cante la Vida” will be the option number 9.
